I could name a hundred reasons I am thankful for my family but I will go with what they did for me yesterday.
My whole family came over and helped me clean my house, inside out and top to bottom. My dad and brother mulched my entire yard, cut down a huge shrub, tamed my climbing rose and just generally spruced up the outside.
The rest of my family spent the day inside wiping down every surface available, dusting, clearing out clutter, reorganizing and just generally sprucing up the inside. JT did manly jobs like hanging curtain rods, replacing light bulbs and removing a faucet.
It ended up taking much longer than I expected (we really dug in deep) and the main floor was left mostly undone yesterday. I've spent the day blasting music and cleaning every square inch. It feels like we just moved in.
The whole point was to give me a fresh start in my house---I'd say mission accomplished!
My family is so awesome, it defies words.

Day 3: I am thankful that my child does not have head lice...yet
On Monday a note was sent home from preschool saying that someone in her class had head lice. Eeewww. I have been totally skeeved out since then and am constantly combing through her hair. So far so good. No nits, no sign that anything is amiss. But I don't know if there is an incubation period and if so, how long it is.
But for now, I am thankful that there seems to be no lice in my house--pray that it stays that way!

Day 2: I am thankful for podcasts
I am thankful for podcasts! They have become a joyful little slice of my day where I get to zone out for a while and learn something.
Some of my favorites include Stuff you Missed in History Class, Stuff you Should Know, History Chicks, MarketPlace and This American Life.
Some new ones I've recently discovered are Titanic Letters (letters from people who were on Titanic, read in a delightful Irish accent) and BBC Witness.
Do you have any favorites to share? Please do! I am always looking for new stuff to listen to.

Day 1: I am thankful for perseverance
Perseverance. Without it, I would not get out of bed each day. Perseverance through God is what gets my feet on the floor, gets me moving even when every part of me just wants to be in a coma for the next year. The promise that God is with me, pushing me forward, holding me up when I want to crumble is the most amazing gift. I am thankful for it every day.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
James 1:2-4

30 days of thankfulness
I need more thankfulness in my life. In the past few months, it has been so easy to focus on what is hard, what has been lost, what is uncertain. I am going to spend the next 30 days posting daily about what I am thankful for. I am excited to see the results!

ha!
I guess I tricked you. I have nothing to write yet, mainly because I don't know how to get pictures from the camera onto the computer. Once I figure that out, I will tell you about our trip to Disney World!
